West African Buba Doll's outfit
consists of an elasticized trousers and shirt (buba) in a cotton batik fabric.
The lined hat which sets off the costume is made in a print of the famous
kente cloth. This is a ceremonial cloth woven in the Asante region of Ghana
in West Africa. The various patterns and colours are symbolic of religious
beliefs as well as the moral and social values of the Asanti people.
